The City in the Sea artwork series #2

There shrines and palaces and towers
(Time-eaten towers that tremble not!)
Resemble nothing that is ours
Around, by lifting winds forgot

Following the re-discovery of my old set of Rotring Variant technical pens, and the purchase of a set of brand new nibs on ebay, I have been happily doodling on tracing paper (it feels good to cast off that computer!). Using the funky little photo-text App Phonto, I have been playing around with added text.

This series is based on slightly adjusted verses from The City in the Sea poem by Edgar Allan Poe .  Listen to the poem read by Basil Rathbone here

The City in the Sea artwork series #1

Lo! Death has reared himself a throne
In a strange city lying alone
Far down within the dim West,
Where the good and the bad and the worst and the best
Have gone to their eternal  rest
